Xavier Deu
Born and work in Barcelona, he studied pictorial procedures at La llotja de Barcelona and engraving at the Escola Industrial.
Different courses of intaglio and carborundum engraving at the Escola Internacional de Calella, by Jordi Rosès and Jordi Alcaraz.
Experimental engraving, at Centre d'art La rectoria de Vilamajor. Courses "Natura sonora", by Eloisa Matheu.
A turning point in the artist's training was the fact of meeting and collaborating with the directors and curators of the Natural Sciences Museum and the Barcelona Music Museum, as well as the head of the sound library Alexandre Martínez and Eloisa Matheu, of Natura sonora.
He has exhibited his works and installations in several art centers and galleries, as well as at international fairs.
It was part of the exhibition "Metafísica de la fragilitat". De l'avantguarda a l'art conceptual", curated by Pilar Parcerisas. At the Fundació Vallpalou, September-December 2021. In this case, the sculptural works spoke of the link between the artist's work and the heat as a generator of forms and thoughts.
He participated in the exhibition "To Joseph Beuys", curated by Vicenç Altaió. At the gallery Huc Malla. with the video installation "Apiarium" that made reference to the wax as a recurrent material of the artist Xavier Déu and some works of Beuys and Steiner, the latter as a thinker.
Solo exhibition at the Centre Art Santa Mònica, under the title "Tots els ocells del món". It was about the alchemy of the materials and the words: Lead/lead, it was cast a series of lead bullets to transform them into classic printing typography that called the title of the exhibition.
He has collaborated with galleries such as Galeria Metropolitana, Bcn, Galeria Cadaqués Huc Malla, Espai Tactel, València, Clare M. Sels, Alemanya, Rocío Santa Cruz, Bcn and currently with the Pigment Gallery of BCN. He has been present at fairs such as Arco, Art Cologne, Swab, Kiaf or ArteSantander, among others.
He participated in the publication "Cave cannis", MACBA Collection.
It is present in collections such as "Col-lecció Josep Maria Civit", "Olor Visual", La Caixa, and other private collections.
